Basalt Special Fleck – P1552

Popular for its distinctive rustic, flecked character, good handling for throwing.
Shelves need to be well coated with refractory batt wash to prevent sticking during firing.
The fleck size/density in our flecked bodies is variable from batch to batch due to the nature of the raw material supplied to us.

The user must sample/batch test in their own application before proceeding.

The fleck in our clay is created by an iron-bearing compound which is not metallic, therefore can be used in microwaves.
Total Contraction @ 1200°C -12.4%

TE @ 500°C approx 0.25%

TE @ 600°C approx 0.346%
Texture 9 (1 = smooth 10 = coarse)
Firing Temperature Range 1200° – 1270°C
