Foundations of Clay is our four-week introductory course offering a rich and well-rounded introduction to working with clay. Each week brings a new focus, guiding you through the fundamentals of both hand-building and wheel throwing — two distinct ways of making that together give you a broad and inspiring foundation to build from.

As the weeks unfold, you’ll develop hands-on skills, creative confidence, and a deeper understanding of the material itself. The final week is dedicated to glazing and completing your work, so you’ll finish the course with a beautiful body of handmade pieces and a genuine sense of what clay can do in your hands.

Course Structure:

Week 1: Throwing
Week 2: Trimming
Week 3: Hand Building
Week 4: Glazing

Firing Fees: All pieces made during the course will incur a one-off firing fee of $15/kg during glaze week. This covers glazing, handling, and two firings by our studio team. Your finished pieces will be ready for pickup a few weeks after your final class.
