 Ceramic Teacher & Studio Hand

 Position Type: Casual, 3-6 hours/week with a view to grow. Mixed role across our teaching and studio hand teams.
Availability: Wednesday nights as a regular 3 hour teaching shift with 10 students
With casual availability across Tuesdays, Thursdays & weekends.

We’re on the lookout for a friendly, skilled ceramicist to join our team in a dual role as a Beginner Teacher and Studio Hand. If you love sharing your knowledge of clay, enjoy working with others, and don’t mind getting your hands dirty behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

This is a casual position (roughly 3-6 hours/week) supporting both our teaching program and the smooth running of our studio. You’ll be working across beginner/intermediate classes, ceramic workshops and assisting with studio maintenance and prep. Ideal for someone wanting to stay engaged in their practice while working as part of a supportive and creative team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Teacher:

  • Teach beginner wheel throwing, with hand-building or intermediate skills a bonus.
  • Support students in developing confidence and technical skills
  • Set up and pack down class materials and tools
  • Stay up to date with studio systems and operations

As a Studio Hand:

  • Help with studio upkeep (cleaning, reclaiming clay, prepping materials)
  • Load and unload kilns
  • Support studio operations and assist other team members as needed
  • Willingness to get your hands dirty

About You

  • Confident in your own ceramic practice, particularly throwing and handbuilding is a great plus!
  • Previous teaching experience and familiarity with ceramic studio operations
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Reliable, organised, and able to take initiative
  • Availability on Wednesday nights, flexible across Tuesdays, Thursdays & weekends.
