Episode 1: Coil Building & Surface Decoration
In this episode Kate Brouwer, studio owner & teacher at Bisque Studios will guide you through the art of coil building. Learn about creating strong joinery, creating & blending coils to create a handled vase. Use this technique to create a similar form as shown in the tutorial or take these skills and create your own ideas. After creating your form, Kate shares different styles of surface decoration and adding embellishment to your works. Remember, our studio also offers regular glazing workshops. Episode 2: Slab-building rectangular and round forms
In this tutorial, Kate guides you through the process of slab building. Rolling slabs, measuring to size, joinery and finishes to create rectangular and round storage dishes. This method can be used to create beautiful angular works, decorative storage trays and tableware.
Episode 3: Pinch Pots & Closed Forms
In this episode, Kate will guide you through the art of pinch-pots. A simple way to create small cups and bowls. As well as how to use this method to create larger works, joining two pieces together to create a closed form as the basis for another style of vessel.
